Childsplay - Behind the Scenes: Prologue

Scene One

Ren gave him a little smirk of her own. ‘Sure. If you tell me your name.’, she answered.

‘Raviel.’

‘Well, it was nice to meet you, Raviel. Maybe till some other time?’, Ren said as she made her way for the door, ‘THE SHADOW GAME’ safely tucked under her arm. The man named Raviel gave her a mysterious smile.

‘Sure.’

‘Cut!!’, Yuzu yelled, not even bothering to use a megaphone. ‘Awright, break of thirty minutes, folks!’, she said happily and clapped her hands. Raviel sighed. ‘Not even worth washing out the gel and hairpaint for…’, he mumbled, running a hand through his hair before taking out the crimson contacts. He blinked and rubbed his grey eyes. ‘Those things itch.’
Ren was just walking up to him to have a conversation when something beeped and they were suddenly covered with sparkling gust.

Yuzu looked up, disturbed, when a very familiar snickering followed. She looked at the working cure that was suspended above the set. ‘Michael! What the actual frig are you doing!?’, she yelled at her special-effect expert, waving her clipboard. Said expert kept laughing. ‘Sorry Yuzu, I just-’, Michael said between deep breaths before having another fit of laughter. Yuzu sighed and shook her head. ‘Right. But you’d better clean this up, Lieutenant Sparklez!’, she exclaimed, jabbing at him. Michael gave her thumbs-up, still laughing.

‘’Lieutenant Sparklez’? ‘, Jarno, the co-director asked. Yuzu waved a hand. ‘The name ‘Captain Sparklez’ is already taken.’, she said, as if that explained everything. ‘Riiiight…’, Jarno said, confused. Then he grabbed a broom and started helping Michael clean all the sparkly dust off the set. ‘Looks like a unicorn came in and puked all over it…’, he mumbled, loud enough for Michael to hear, which caused the effect expert to have another fit of snickering.

In the meantime, Yuzu was busy finding the actors she would need for the next scene. Both Estelle and Crystal were all-set, but then the director opened the door to Enya’s room…

She was met with the sight of both the girl and the stylist, Lou, lying on the floor, laughing their butts off. Yuzu cleared her throat, which got their attention. Lou immediately sat up straight and Enya scrambled to her feet, still giggling.
‘Am I interrupting something?’, Yuzu asked, trying to keep a pokerface. Lou shook her head, stifling some giggles. ‘No, we were just-’

‘-being FABULOUS~!’, Enya exclaimed and laughed again. Yuzu now noticed the pink boa, super star glasses, and sparkling fedora Enya was wearing. She smirked. ‘Well, you missed something even more fabulous on the set just now.’, she said. Enya perked up. ‘What was it??’, she inquired. Yuzu chuckled and said; ‘Michael transformed it into sparkling unicorn-puke.’ Both Enya and Lou jumped up. ‘Oh my gods. That, I gotta see!’, Lou said at the same time Enya yelled; ‘I wanna see~!’

They both hurried past their director, who yelled; ‘Be ready in twenty-five minutes!’ after them. Yuzu calmly walked away, off to find the others. She opened the door to Cerberus’s room and was once again met with a strange sight.

Cerberus was standing on the couch, one foot on the back, the other on the arm rest, while pointing and yelling something at Mary – the person in charge of the make-up -,who was also yelling and waving a powder brush at him. Concealer flew everywhere and the couch creaked dangerously as the two continued to yell things in Spanish which Yuzu didn’t understand. The girl blinked. ‘Is this real or did someone drug me? Cuz I swear I’m seeing things…’, she mused to herself before backing out of the room slowly.

She found Aidan and Shiman above the set. Aidan was teasing Megan, who was in charge of the lights. The two were yelling and flailing at each other while Shiman tried to stop them. Yuzu threw her clipboard at Aidan, which hit him in the head, and exclaimed; ‘Twenty minutes! You better be ready by then!’

She ducked when Aidan threw the board back at her, cursing.

S was calmly conversing with Josh, the cameraman, and Ren had dusted herself off in the meantime. Jarno was talking to Raviel, telling him that he didn’t have to stay around; next time they’d need him, it would be for scene three, which wasn’t to be filmed until the next day. Raviel immediately ran off to his dressing room, eager to rid himself of the gel and hairpaint that made his hair look ridiculous.

Yuzu watched him go. ‘He looks happy.’, she noted. Jarno grinned, adjusting his cap. ‘Can you blame him? He has to look pretty damn weird during this movie.’, he said before addressing Megan. ‘Everything ready, Megs?’, he shouted. Megan, from above the set, gave a thumbs-up and called back; ‘All set, bro. Ready when you are!’

Jarno returned the gesture. ‘Thank ya, Megs!’, he said. Yuzu poked him. ‘Can you check on Cerberus for me?’, she asked. Jarno smirked and saluted. ‘At once, on the way!’, he joked before running off. He then proceeded to trip over a cable and let out his favorite curse – ‘Dear Arceus!’ – as he got up and moved on.

Yuzu laughed quietly before grabbed her megaphone and yelled; ‘Fifteen minutes everyone!’, startling the heck out of both her crew and cast.
Michael had cleaned up the set so it no longer looked like Rainbow Dash had shat all over it. Yuzu looked around, satisfied, when a crashing sound from the direction of the dressing rooms caught her attention. Sighing, she walked over to the source.

The door to Cerberus’s room was open and infernal yelling in Spanish could be heard. Jarno was sitting just outside, hands over his head and looking absolutely horrified. He saw Yuzu approach and jumped up. ‘I’m not going in there, bro. Not for anything!’, he stated, pointing at the doorway. The director nodded before taking out a piece of fireworks. Jarno looked at it questionably.

‘What are you going to do with that?’, he asked. With a devilish grin Yuzu gestured for him to be silent as she lit it and threw it into the noisy room. Then the girl grabbed her co-director and scarpered, running until they were a safe distance away.

A few minutes, scorchmarks, scoldings, and liters of Cleanex later, the problem had finally been solved. Turned out Cerberus hated having to wear make-up, no matter how subtle. When she heard that, Yuzu blinked in confusion. ‘Wait, hold on. So all this was just because of that?’, she wondered aloud. Mary and Cerberus nodded. The director then stood, and walked out of the room without saying a word.

Then she proceeded to walk into Michael’s office. She looked at the special-effect control panel before pressing the biggest red button she could find, setting off about half a dozen of explosions.
Yuzu then walked down onto the set, grabbed her megaphone and screeched; ‘I AM SO DONE WITH ALL OF YOU RADIANS!!!’

Again, she startled both cast and crew witless. The girl huffed before flopping down on her chair and yelled; ‘Five minutes! Don’t be SO ZETTA SLOW!!’

Everyone quickly went to work, finishing whatever they were doing before getting in place.

Yuzu groaned, rubbing her temples. ‘I’m sò done with this movie…’, she grumbled.
Raviel, who happened to pass by and overhear, chuckled. ‘Already? We have a lot more to go, you know.’, he said, laughing as Yuzu sank deeper into her chair.

After awhile, she yelled for her cast to ‘prepare themselves’, just before Jarno counted down to one and Yuzu got to say; ‘ACTION!’
